Christa Pike faced execution in Tennessee on Tuesday. The US Supreme Court rejected her last request to halt the execution. This marks Tennessee's first time a woman was executed in Tennessee in modern history. Media reported Pike stayed unnerved in the hours before the execution. The execution proceeded despite the governor's refusal to grant clemency. Pike's case has drawn attention due to its unprecedented nature and the permanence of the verdict.
